PROPOSED RESTORATION OPPOSED

BY BRITISH WORKERS'LEAGUE

(Rec. January 11, 7.55 p.m.) London, January'lo. The conference of the British Workers' League inaugurated a German lost colonies committee, v/liicli opposes the returning of any colonies to Germany. The league passed a resolution repudiating, the Labour Party's proposals. % Sir John M'Call, in moving the resolution, said it was essential to a permanent peace that Germany should have no jumping-off place in the Pacifio or iu South Africa. Internationalisation was impracticable, and lie urged a consultation with the Dominions. Mr. J. A. Seddon and Sir. John laverner supported the resolution. Lord Sydenham wrote saying the Labour proposals were preposterous.' The question at, issue concerned Africa and Australasia, who must have a powerful voice in the decision. The Australians and New Zealanders had evicted the Germans from the 1 achic, therefore it was futile for the Labourites to dispose of the question without consultation with the Dominions.
