Cocksfoot seed gathering is at present being engaged in along the railway route between Mesterton and Woodside 1)Y a number of men. It is gratifying to see that the seed is not being allowed to go'to waste. It is stated that last year as much as 30s. a day was earned at the work. Building operations In tl.e Carterton borough are 1 fairly quiet at .present probably owing to tho high cost of material and the difficulty of supplies Tho work that is going on is confined principally to alterations. In the outdistricts, several new dwellings have gone up of late, and others arc contemplated.
