At a brief sitting of the House of Representatives and tho Senate, Mr. Huglies announced his resignation, and moved tho adjournment until to-mor-row, in order to allow time for consideration of the situation. It is understood that Mr. Hughes also informed members that the Governor-General had commissioned him to form an Administration, and the party is now discussing the question. It is believed in certain quarters that the Labour Party may bo united to form a National Government.—Press Assn. (Rec. January 10, 0.20 a.m.) Melbourne, January 9. It has been definitely announced that Mr. Hughes has been commissioned to form a Government. The Ministerial party approves his .acceptance.'.—Press Assn.
