The Putiki, receiving cargo until noon, will sail this afternoon for Nelson in continuation of her trip from Lyttclton. She will return to Wellington, and sail on Saturday for southern ports. The Tainui is due this morning from Wanganui, and will return to that port tolight. The Wellington 6teamship Company will dispatch the Huia for Wanganui and New Plymouth at/ 5 p.m. to«lay. The Himitangi is due this morning from Lyttelton, and will sail on Friday for Westport to load coal for Owenga: At. tho Chatham Islands tho vessel will, load for Lyttelton. Tho Calm Bailed at midnight last, night for Picton and Wanganui, and is due back on Friday morning. The same day she will sail for Lyttclton, Bluff, Dunedin, and Timaru, taking general cargo. > As the Wakatu is to make a special trip between Lyttclton and Kaikoura she will not be due at Wellington until Saturday night. On Monday at 5 p.m.. she will sail for Kaikoura and Lyttelton. The Karu (Messrs. Reese Bros,) is due at Wellington on Saturday with a full cargo of produce from Lyttelton. In the evening she will sail for Tarakohe to load cement for Lyttelton. The Anchor Company's Waimea is due at Wellington on Friday morning from New Plymouth, and will sail in tho evening for Nelson and West Coast portß. Captain A. H. Davey, who has been on holiday leave, rejoined his vessel yesterday in place of Captain D. Ritchie. The United Stateß Government has laid, down its flrßt 9400-ton cargo boat. There was considerable ceremony at the pew shipbuilding yards at Hackensack • Meadows when the first rivet was driven. In addition to the ten ways for the construction of merchant ships of ordinary type ana tonnage, two great ways, 1000 ft. m length, arc being provided in which to construct leviathan ships, and it is understood these berths will be occupied as Boon as the cargo ships have been constructed, inis is tho only shipbuilding plant in the United States that will bo prepared to build boats of the Lusitania type. The Te Anau arrived from Auckland and Lyttelton oarly yesterday afternoon. Iho Tessel will sail on Thursday, taking general cargo for Lyttelton and Dusedin.and not Dunedin only as had previously been arranged. The Monowai will arrive this morning from Lyttelton, and will sail at 5 p.m. tomorrow for Napier, Gisborne, and Auckland in her usual running. The Mnraroa's departure from Wellington for Lyttelton on Saturday night nas been postponed until 10 o'clock, Mr. Thomas Brown, of the Wellington harbourmaster's pilot staff, has signed on the Hincmoa as Becond ofiiccr.
