NEW ZEALAND MEAT
COMPLAINT AS TO ITS DISTRIBUTION
LACK OF STORAGE SPACE
(Reo. January 8, 7.45 p.m.)
London, January 7. Sir Thomas Mackenzie (New Zealand High Commissioner) received a deputation of the New Zealand Agents' Association, who complained, that tho Food Controller had taken New Zealand meat from tho Board of Trade, and was distributing it through tho Wholesale Meat Supply Association, contrary to the terms of the original agreement, in which the Board of Trade agreed to distribute meat through agents nominated by the producers. The deputation asserted that the alteration, if it became permanent would detrimentally affect tho New Zealand trade, and asked that steps bo faken to revert to tie original terms. Sir Thomas Mackenzie promised to approach tho Board of Trade. Ho assumed that the action complained of was an emergency measure. Tho "Evening Standard" publishes an interview with a refrigerating expert, who said the Government had not added a single cubic foot of cold storage since the war began, and had actually stopped the erection of some proposed stores. But for Mr. G. J. Wardlo's efforts tho Port of London Authority's store, holding half a million carcasses, would not have been completed.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. BUTCHERS PUT ON HALF.SUPPLIES
