It is 6tated that acute dissension' obtains in Germany between tbe extreme Pan-Germans and the more moderate faction headed by Hertling and Kuhlmann. German democrats, it is also reported, are agitating for the removal of Hindenburg and Luderidorff. Particulars supplied by the French Ministry of Marine show that nine times' as many enemy submarines were destroyed in the last quarter of 1917 as in the corresponding period of ,1916. A return of British losses and captures states that during 1917 British forces in all theatres captured 114,544 prisoners and 781 guns, as against losses of 28,379 prisoners and 166 guns.
