THE CLEARING STATION VENDORS DISCUSS MATTERS 'Ai well-attended meeting of milk Vendors was held last evening to discuss matters touching on the clearing-house system. :Mr. Williams presided, and ,there were in attendance Messrs. R. A, .Wright (chairman of the Milk Committee of the City' Council), Olliver, (the corporation's milk expert), and E. <A. Dawson (stationmaster at Thorndou). Mr. Wright said that the council had endeavoured to get the Railway Department to hand over the milk which arrived by the trains, but found, that this''could only, bedons under enters from the' individuals concerned. The council -therefore .intended to -Tjrrite to the vendors asking them 1 to gjvo the necessary authorities.- If the vendors did not agree to this t-liey would have to take the milk to the clearing station themselves. He was, at the meeting to ask the vendors to agree to the proposal. • , ~ Mr. Olliver mentioned the same Tioiiit. He then went on to say that at the clearing station the morning milk would bo kept separate .-rom tho evening milk, and that the milk fiom cach farmer would be kept in a com•partment of its own, If the vendors oans were left at the clearing station the milk "would be put into them v/hen it was-ready to, go out: The cf.ns m which the -milk was brought to the city would be cleansed at the clearing station and sent back to the -irmers. Mr. Dawson said that lie had eoI .been requested by the Department to attend the meeting, but liad thought it his duty to be there to answer any questions or give any assistaucs lie could to help to make, the new scheme a success.
