HEAVY COST OF BONUSES.
London, January 6. Tlio granting of a 12J per ccnt. bonus to skilled engineers in October has created a tangle of claims in other industries, accentuating the Labour difficulties. Meanwhile, exorbitant wages aro being earned by piece-workers. Instances aro quoted of men at Sheffield earning from £30 to £45 weekly. The new bonuses, at flio present rate ot progression, are estimated to cost thet country a hundred millions. —Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
