THE MOTUIHI INQUIRY

REPORT PLACED BEFCfIIE CABINET. • The report of the Military Court of Inquiry which investigated the circum- . stances connected with the escape of German prisoners from Motuihi island was placed before Cabinet yesterday. . The report was not availablo for publication. The Minister of Dofence (Sir James Allen) told a Dominion reporter that the evidence taken at the inquiry had already been published for general information. The report itself was a military document. No person had been charged with any offence hcforo this Military Court of Inquiry. Sir James Allen added that ho probably would'have a further statement to make on tho subject shortly. It is understood that Cabinet approved of some further stops being taken in connection with tho affair.
