MAGISTRATE'S COURT
4Mr. W. G. Riddcll, S.M., presided at tho Magistrate's Court on Saturday. Sidney Gordon Billows pleaded guilty to obtaiuiiig from Robert Thompson Bland the sum of £3 18s. Id. by falsely representing that he had an account with the Bank of New Zealand at Hawera. On two charges of a similar charaotor tho accused was previously convicted and ordered to come up for sontenco when called upon, ana ou tho present charge ho was sentenced to throa months' imprisonment. A sentence of fourteen days' imprisonment was imposed on Samuel Grange, a seaman, for deserting from an oversea vossel. Hβ signed tho articles tho day tho vessel was to sail and disappeared immediately afterwards. For insobriety, James Wallace and Dennis Roardon, old offenders, were each finod 10s., in dofault 24 hours' imprisonment; James Murphy was ordered to pay 7s. 6d. expenses, in default 24 hours' imprisonment, and five first offenders wore dealt with in the Usual lonient manner.
