Advico has been received that George Leggett, a well-known Mount Somen farmer, 38 years of age, mnmed, with two ohildren, shot, himself while m his woolshed this mornmg. . FOUND DEAD. Waimate, January 4. ■ A man named Frederick Dompsey, 44 years of age, a married labourer, was found deal in Rhodes Street yesterday evening. He formerly belonged to Blenheim. PLATELAYER KILLED. Cambridge, January 4. Ernest Denyer, a platelayer at Cambridge, was killed to-day while worktag on the railway line. He was prizing a rail with a, lever when it slipped back and killed him instantly. He loaves a widow and three children. CHILD DROWNED IN A WATER BARREL. Core, January i. A child, 25 years old, son of Mr. Valentine, of Waimumu Road, near Mataura, had boon straying about the yard yesterday afternoon. He was missed, but later was found drowned, bead downwards, in a water barrel. KILLED BY FALL OF ROCK. Wanganui, January 4. A fatal accident occurred at Kahuru, up tho Wanganui River this morning. Lionel Gordon Anderson, IB* years or ace, was struck by a fall of papa rock while making a road and killed instantly. The deceased's parents reside at Gonvillo, Wanganui.
