GAS-BAG MOTOR-CARS
OFFICIAL SANCTION AND A WARNING. The British Automobile Association has been in communication with the Ministry of Munitions concerning the use of coal-gas on motor-vehicles. The association asked for an official assur-. ance that coal-gas may be used on motor-cars without restriction. The Minister of Munitions has replied that, so long as the gas is conveyed, as at present, in bags at or slightly above atmospheric pressure,' and not compressed in steel cylinders, it is not considered that there is at' tho present time any need on general grounds for restricting the use of coalgas for motor -purposes. At the same time it is pointed out that if motorists were to use coal-gas on anv consider, able scale it might, in the interests of national requirements, become necessary at some future tiiyo to impose certain restrictions upon its use!
