WOMEN FOR LENS-MAKING
The British Ministry of Munitions makes an urgent call for women lens makers. Women between 18 and 30 years of ago, with requisite qualifications, are asked to offer their services at onco. Candidates over 30 aro accepted only when their previous occupation is likely to be helpful in the training. Industrial workers, such as dressmakers, milliners, and feather curlera, workers with a bent for handicraft, music teaohers, and kindergarten instructors havo hitherto been found among the best operators. A freo course of instruction in lens and prism making is given, by arrangement with the Ministry of Munitions, to approved students at the Northampton Polytechnic Institute; Iho course is from six to 20 weeks, witJi maintenance allowanco during trambig. Students must undertake, on completing their course, to enter any factory to which they may be allocated. There aro at present openings for trained students in London and. other contres, and women suitable for training should apply without delay to tlio Director, Northampton Polytechnic Institute, 280 St. John Street, London, E. 0.1.
