EXPLOSIONS AND FIRES IN AMERICA
DESTRUCTION AT NEWPORT NEWS. ■ • New York, January 2. A roport from ' Norfolk, Virginia, states that a series of explosions and fires has destroyed an important section of the city of Newport News. Damage was done to the amount of two millions. Five arrests have been made. The city has been placed under martial law.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Absii.
