THE QUINNAT SALMON
The quinnat salmon season will open oil January 15. Reports iroiri the south indicate that the .fish aro already running in the Waitaki River, and il expectations are the _ salmon will be ascending the Waitaki m their tens of thousands within the next fortnight The Marine Department will make arrangements for tho netting and distribution of a certain quantity. The success that has attended the efforts ol the Now Zealand Government Jo acclimatise the quinnat salmon has attracted attention in many parts of the world. It is admitted that the Fisheries Department has achieved one of tho greatest feats of acclimatisation on record. Within a few years, unless some unforeseen cheek occurs, the quinnat will be a familiar article of food throughout New Zealand, and at the timo the Dominion will been given a new attraction for the sportsman.
