TWO HEROIC CHILDREN
Albert Medals have been awarded to Doreen Ashburiilmm, aged 11, and; Anthony Earrar, aged 8, who, hvo Wltl* their parents at Cowiohan Lake, Vancouver Island. Tho children left their, homes for the purpose of catching their ponies. Suddenly a large punuy attacked them—they were almost upon, the creature when they unw it croucln jiV in tlioir path. The puma sprang and knocked tho girl down, but th« boy attacked tho beast, which was' oil tho girl's back, mill his !ists amlj a riding bridle. The puma then turiw ed upou tho boy, and the gul, jumping; to her feet, fought tho annual with, her clenched hands, actually putting; her arm into the puma's mouth to; prevent it from biting her companion. Thus sho got tho puma oil' the boy, hut, standing on its hind quarters, it continued to fight the girl, until,frightened by a sudden noise, it slunk off r The children, who were badly ini|j jured, reached their homes.
