SEVERE TREMORS IN THE SOUTH. By Tolcuraph.—l'ress Association. inveroargill, January 2. Tho sharpest earthquake for many years occurred at 3.15 a.m. to-day. The direction was from north to south, and tlio duration of the tremors five seconds. Clocks were stopped, but 110 damage was done.
