MAGISTRATE'S COURT
A short sitting of the Magistrate's Court was held on Saturday morning, Messrs. J. W. Ellison "and I. Salek, Justices of the .Peace, presiding. James Ross M'Laughlin pleaded guilty to having been drunk and was fined 205., in default three days' imprisonment. On a further charge of having in his possession two blankets and one waterproof sheet of the value of 355., the property of the New Zealand Government, without being able satisfactorily to account for same, he pleaded not guilty and was remanded to Friday, January 4. Thomas Rimmer, a. seaman, charged with disorderly behaviour in Featherston Street while drunk, was coHvicted and discharged. Rimmer, who was employed on a coastal steamer, missed his vessel, and while drunk threw his coat and .waistcoat on to the footpath and invited somo imaginary person to come along and fight him. For insobriety our first offender, who had been remanded for a week, was ordered to pav medical expenses 17s. 6d., in default three clays' imprisonment, and another had his bail of 20s. estreated.
