FORTUNE FROM OLD ARMY CLOTHING
REMARKABLE DISCLOSURES' IN A SLANDER CASE. Judgment for £500 damages was recently given in Mr. Justice Darling's Court in London against Mr. Marcel Landau, who was stated to have made £200,000 in two years out of deals in cast-off Army clothing. The plaintiff was a Mr. Mazza, who alleged that defendant had slandered, him over a transaction in old Army boots. During cross-examinatioi\ Mr. Landau denied that he had procured for tho purpose of this action a document ho had produced showing that lie was liable to bo called for the French Army, Ho got tho document because Mr. Mazza had brought about rumours that he (Landau) was an Austrian.
