Mr. Case: berg was born in Poland in'lß4l, edt cated iii England,-and came to the BIu; in-the-TPnr l§63"by the good,ship Si George' 'Pollock.,. After residing n Invercar'gill for tiv.bjyoars he cam north, and settled in the Wairarapa laying tho foundation of-his busines at Fentherston in 1868.- The followinj year he moved north to Cai terton, and in 1874 the fin of M. Caselhcrg arid. Co. es tended its operations to Mastertor, diirh eventually becams the firmi headquarters. Tn. 1892 tho firm vai merged into the larger and nJoro com prehensive business so long known-1< the district as the .Wairarapa Farmers Co-operative Association, with brancliol in every town in the Wairarapa and es tensive* butter and cheese factory •. in terests. Mr.. Caselberg, sen., has al ways taken n lively interest in pubm affairs.: In tho old days at Greytowi he was' chairman' of the Waiohini River Board unci the local school com mittee. Ho was elected representative of the Groytown riding on the firs . County Council, and later in Masterto; he was n borough councillor and after wards Mayor of that town, and it wai during bis term of ofiice that , the borough established municipal ■ gas; works. In later years ho has not benr so closely associated with public affairs, bii't- lins .never lost his, interest and grip of them, It has been \indoi his'guiding hand thnt the W.F.C.Ai lias steadily progressed on saw lines, and his euccess is an'esainple of lyhat industry combined with sagacity cajj achieve" in the sphere of business-. >>
