Many travellers who have stayed, at the Hotel <lu Louvre et de la J?aix, Marseilles; will, regret to learn oi' the death of Madame Louis Echonard, who has managed tho hotel for the past lliirty-five years. Madame "Eehenard was greatly esteemed by all who knew her, and mado many 'friends Ly her kindly disposition. She died after a shorty illness on October 6 last, at the ago of 63 years.
Miss Eileen Didsbury is visiting in Napier at present. Miss Eiloy, head mistress cf thd Free Kindergarten, has left for a visit to Australia. Miss Massey is visiting friends r .ear Ch'iTstchurch at present. Mr. and Mrs. J. Duthio and family leave for Day's Bay at the end of the wool:, having taken a House ttieie for the holidays. Miss Joan Hislop is staying with Mrs. Vivian Kiddiford at the Ixiwer Hutt. .The death ts announced 'if Mrs. J. B. Roy. of New Plymouth. Mrs. Roy belonged to a. very well-known family (sho was Miss Emmeline Hslse), and lia-J a great many friends. Mr. and Mrs. Moult have returned to AVollinnton.after spending n holiday in Canterbury. Miss Edith Whitelaw, ol Auckland, is visiting her sister, Mrs. J. 1). Gray, at Roua Bay. Mr. and Mrs. J. G. Fulton, cf Wellington, are visiting Christchurch at present. Mrs. F. Bwuichamp I'latts (Wcllingtn:it. by her sister", Mrs. f'nrdv (Wanganui) and Mrs. IVrrett (Auckland), have roiio to Port Chalmers" to spend Christmas in their old home. The matron of tlw Home fcr the Aged Needy (Miss Mnckay) desires to acknowledge with thanks the rcceirit of a quantity of lwfnl articles ■■:f clothing from Mrs. Shirer, St. James's Manse, 'Wellington South; Miss Rowley, Kelburn; and Mrs. Holmes, Portland Crescent! also Christmas cakes from Mrs. L. Nathan ana Mrs. Joseph, Mobson Stritot.
