At the start the two. former jumped out smartly, but Exclusive soon ga e way to Eugari, and the latter, yith Jan. Queen, led Signorella /and March On fnto the straight. Engari gave »«*«*«" distance, and Mill Queen went ori full of running, and won easily from Sienorcua. Exclusive was third, and then came Mastor luev and March On. . Colorado was the public fancy « the Hurdles, with Want and Arlington best Ed of the others. The fayounte won alter a fast-run race, and it was his best cnort to date. At the start, Sail Homo and KoMnahlna set oil at a fast Pace, with the favoured two well up. lne rwo leaders; we? done with six furlongs from home and Arlington took charge followed by Want and" the favourite. The two were abreast at the last, fence, and ma good finish the top-weight wore down w"int and won by a neck. Hupana was a four-flirurs favourite, with Endure nearly as we" backed. At the barrier Hupana (ridden by It. Young, who Is just back on Melbourne) stood very duie ly and. inmDinir out clean y, she soon put a very C brelk on the field, and won by fifty yards. Vermilion was second, and Cooing third. Tuticorn, Association and Perricr finished in a line. Tinkler lost her rider after going two furlongs. Municipal was the only withdrawa from the Manawatu Cup. .The public went solidly for Devotion, with Client and Nobleman next in demand. At tho start, ImpXent led Nobleman, Dribble S eight-of-Hand, and Devotion, with Client handy. Going out of the straight. Impediment held a lead of six-lengths with Nobleman Square Deal, and Devotion next. The, leader was tiring roiinding the home bend, where Nobleman took charge, e.nd led Into the straight. Here Client ran into second nlace but he could make no impression on tho leader, who won well Master J ou< toa was finishing on in third rlnco. Then oame Bonnlo Maid nud Cleft. Bquare Deal finished last, and Rangitero broke down badly. Tho favourite ran a good race, and not a good passage, but the weight told on her at the finish. Torfroda would have been at a short nrice in the Juvenils Handicap, but when doing her ureliminary she took charge of Bagby, and bolted a mile and a half. Even after this she started a better favourite than Coolpan, but In the race, though they both showed pace, they stopped quickly and finished well back. At the start Chimera led Staccato. In the stra ght Astrophel challenged, but Olilmera held her own and won by half a length. Staccato was two lengths away. ~,,,. A good favourite in Quinns Post prevailed in the Hack Welter from Zo a, with Altercation finishing fast in tluld place, and Naniur at the head of the others. Zola led till the straight was readied, where the favourite took charge and won easily. , , , ,_ The scratching pen was freely used in tho Fitzherbert Handicap, which the public regarded as a duel between Acre- and Lingerie, and the former' was sent out a slightly bettor favourite than tho filly. The latter drew the extreme rutside, and failed to get to the front at any stage of the race. W. Price got Lady General out smartly, and the Opaki marc was not headed on tho journey. Aero made a big effort In tho straight, and so did Crow, hurst, but Lady General held her own and won by a good length. Orowhurst was a similar distance away, and then camo Glorify. , „ , , The concluding event produced the best finish of the, day. Gang Awa' and Ohlwia were the best backed on the machine.
