CATHOLIC FiCMCS. . AT KAEQBI AND LOWJfiR HUTT. , A very 'successful- picnio in aid of the Roman Catholic iiducation J'und was held at Karori .Park yesterday. Though the weather was threatening, it did not spoil the outing. > The oificials hi ciiarge had made thorough arrangements for the convenience and enjoyment of those desiring to attend. Special tram tickets, the charge for Which included the price of admission ■to the Park, were issued; hot water was provided free; imd the Tramways Bard was specially engaged for the day. ■These efforts on the part of the committee were well rewarded by heavy takings at the gate. Among the attractions on the. ground were novel and amusing side-shows/ athletio sports,, dancing, and a baby show, Surprise packets to the" number of about 800 were offered.for sale, and by 2 o'olook had all found purchasers. Among those present at the picnio were Archbishops Redwood and O'Shea, Archdeacon Devoy, Dean Holley, Chaplains Murphy and Cullen, and all the ojty clergy. A similar picnic was held at Lower Hutt on Dean Lane's grounds. At this also, there' were sports, particularly for the, children, and the day's pleasure made a host of juveniles highly satisfied.:/ ■ ■• v"
