BOWLS
CENTRE TOURNAMENT TO-DAY. The Wellington Bowling Centre's annual tournament :is to commence on the local greens' at 9.30 a.m. to-day. Hitherto this tourney has been' played at the New lear, but on the present occasion it has been decided to make it a holiday attraction, so that all those bowlers who, as a rule, relinquish tho cares or business between Christmas and tho day after the New Year may have a definite objective in the game they aro devoted to. The arrangement has been generally accepted as a wiso one, and 52 rinks (208 players) will be concerned in the rink matches scheduled for the coming holidays. Another, and a welcome change has been decided on in the abandonment of the three twentyone head games per day for three days. Instead there will only ho two games of twenty-five heads each played for four days—Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. On the following Monday (New Year's Eve) the ties and winners of sections will play off, and on Tuesday (New Year's Day) the finals will be played (weather, of course, permitting).
