FIRES AT WAIHI
BRIGADE SAVES VALUABLE BUSINESS BLOCK. By Telegraph.-Presa Association. Waihi, December 24. Two fires occurred, at an early hour yesterday morning. The interior of Walters's stationery and fancy goods premises was gutted, and practically the whole stock, rallied at £2000, destroyed. The stock was insured in the State Office for £500. Effectiye work by the brigade prevented the destruction of a. valuable business block. A four-roomed house in the east pnd of the town was totallydestroyed, the inmates escaping in their night attiro.
