THE ADDINGTON TRAGEDY
9 WINIFRED CARRICK COMMITTED FOR TRIAL. Bj Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, December 22. The case in which Winifred Carrick is charged with the murder of the child Donald Lewis Carrick, at Addington, on December 8, was concluded at tlio Magistrate's Court last night. Evidence was given by Mr. and Mrs. Burns, with whom the child was boarded, regarding incidents on the night preceding the tragedy, and also as to finding the body in the morning in the garden. Evidence was also given by children and a cabman regarding inquiries made by accused as to where Mrs. Burns lived. Detective Gibson described the arrest of Winifred Carrick, whose stockings, skirt, and handbag were damp and dirty. Accused reserved her defence, and was committed for trial.
