o FOR THIRTY-THIRD REINFORCE MENTS. Except for the guards, pickets, ant police, tliero will bo no soldiers_ ii Trentham Camp until Boxing Night It was intended that the senior draft the Thirty-third Reinforcements, elioult remain in camp and be given dail; leave to visit tho city. But it was do oided yesterday to givo theso _ troop local leave from last night until nex Wednesday night. A troop train, whiel left Trentham at 10 minutes to 7 brought the men to town, tho city be ing reached at half-past seven. In tin interval which tho journey occupied tin Tain storm from the south came ; uj and tho soldiers found tho city in i deluge, The civilian Christmas visitors t< Wellington • had already practicall; filled tho hotels. This mado tho task o finding accommodation • for tlio nigh rather difficult, but hotelkeepers ros< to the occasion, and provided as man; shakedowns as they could. Many o tho soldiers had their homes in <ir nea Wellington, or were able to find roon in tho houses of friends, so that thi number requiring accommodation ii tlio hotels and boardinghousos am hostels was reduced thereby. In one way and another all the mei appear to havo found a rcsting-placi for the night. The Mayor, Mr. J. P. Luko, C.M.G. had arranged for beds to be provide! at tho Barracks for any men who wor unable to find room elsewhere. Am since, up to a lato hour, only abou half-a-dozen men had rung Mr. Lufo up, it was assumed that all had beei provided for. Tho possibility of getting as far a tho nearer towns of the South Islan< was considered by soldiers from thosi parts. Last night's boat, however, wa a full ship, and to-njght's will bo like wise. In view of this fact, and of tin limited time, tho few who contemplate! tho trip had to abandon it. As it hap pens, a large number of relatives o tho men of tho Thirty-thirds are ii Wellington just now. so that a ver; largo proportion of tho troops, includ ing those who will be ablo to reacl near towns in the North Island, wil snenfl Christmas with their peonle. Fo those who have not this advantage thnrn will ho ontertainmeut to-night a tlio Town Hall, whero a dance is belli' given by the Mayor and Mayoress am their committee' The Thirty-thirds are duo to re'turi to camp bv a train living Lambtoi Station at *11.1-5 on Wednesday night
