FATAL FALL FROM A WINDOW
Mr. W. G. Riddell, S.M., held an inquest yesterday afternoon ;."to the cause of tho death of Catherine Matilda Levy, who fell from a bedroom willdow on to tho footpath, a distunco or about 20ft. . ~ j Sophia Murphy, sister of'the deceased, in her evidence, stated tnau the deceased was a married woman, and had lived with witness for about three years, until somo six weeks ago. She enjoyed fair health, but was occasionally depressed. Sho never hinted that she would tako her life. Clara Solomon, of 16 Russell Street, stated that deceased had lived Ww' her for the past six weeks. At tnnos sho was depressed. Witness last saw her alive at 8.30 p.m. on Wednesday, when she appeared cheorful. witness had her attention called to the tiagedy by deccascd's littlo boy, and found Mrs. Levy lying on tho footpath under tlio bedroom window. A doctor was called in. and he pronounced life oxunct. Constable Charles Joss testified to finding the body and removing it to the morgue, where it was examined by Dr. Lyno. There was a fracture of the sltull, which was plainly visible. Tho window, which was open, was about 20ft. abovo tho footpath. After hearing tho evidence of Colin Levy, the eight-year-old son of the deceased, the Coroner returned a verdict that deceased met her. death _ as tho result of injuries sustained i';om a fall from a bedroom window while sutferiug from a fit of depression.
