ALLIES' PROGRESS
TOWARDS GOAL OF VICTOR!
STIRRING SPEECH BY MR. LLOYD GEORGE
HOW JERUSALEM WAS CAPTURED
ENEMY LOSSES IN THE TRENTINO
Mr. Lloyd George reviews tho war outlook in an inspiriting speech. He condemns "grousing" aa tending to undermine the national morale, and declares that in spite of somo untoward events and discouraging appearances the Allies are making steady progress towards their goal. The gra nd problem beforo them, he points out, is not that of man-power—in spite of transfers to Italy the Allies have a marked numerical superiority in Franco and Flaaiders—but that of shipping tonnage. Tho great task is to provide the ships needed to enable Americ a to bring her decisive weight to bear. The enemy is still concentrating upon a mighty effort to break into the Italian plain from the north, but reports indicate that he is being firmly held. Franco-British forces are now taking an important part in meeting the Austro-German attacks. A further advance is reported in Palestine. No development of importance is disclosed in the Western theatre.
