HOROWHENUA SHOW
The Horowhenun A. and P. Association Till hold its twelfth annual show on January 'M, 1918, on tho racecourse, Levin. This association has since its inception grown to such an extent both in membership, and oxhibits, that it is found difficult to confine it to a one-day show. It is only owing to tho war that tho association has decided to still aiako the show a one-day fixture, until such time us farmers, who are the chief exhibitors, are not so handicapped for want of labour. To meet tho wishes of many a section for "home industries" lias been added to the schedule, which will no doubt' attract a, good amount of competition. ' All exhibits in this section will become tho property of the association, and will bo sold for tho benefit of the Patriotic Fund. Tho classes in tho purebred cattle section have* been made much moro attractive for breeders of this c'ms of slock, and are expected to draw good competition, there being eight classes in each of tho Priosian, Ayrshire, Jersey and milking Shorthorn. Tho butter-fat competition is expected to draw keener com-1 petition also, as the first prize of a tenguinea cup, donated by the Lovin Co-op-erative Dairy Company, Ltd., carries with it five guineas, donated by tho Mauakau Dai/y Company, Ltd. aid n second prize of three guineas, donated by tho lutku Dairy Company, Ltd. This is tho ihird year that the show has been held for tho benefit of tho Patriotic Fund, and for this reason the ladies of Levin and district are handling the catering to help swell the fund, and are deserving of the strongest support for their untiring energy in this direction, and patrons can rely on their requirements being: fully served on show day.
