SWISS CONSUL AND GERMAN PAPERS.

Some time ago instructions were re- •' ceived from the Imperial Government that the archives of the German Consuls and Consular Agents in New Zealand were to be handed over to the Swiss Consul at Auckland. This gentleman was in due course communicated with by the Minister of Internal Affairs, but he has now replied to Mr. Russoll, declining to accept custody of the German archives. Instructions have been given that the papers shall be sealed up and handed over to the Public Trustee, who will hold them until after tho war.
