MONT BLANC CAPTAIN'S
EVIDENCE
Halifax, December 13. 'A Government investigation of the receiit disaster lias opened. Captain Lamodec.,,of the Mont Blanc, described the collision. He stated that the Imo was crossing his course and exchanged signals. The Imo was travelling at a high speed and the Mont Blanc was going slowly. He believed the Imo altered her course too _late._ Captain Lamodec manoeuvred his ship, hoping to save the part where the picric- acid was stored, but failed. "When the fire broke out he ordered the crew to abandon the ship, seeing it was useless to remain, and the crew escaped to land with the loss of one life— Cable Assn. ' . A SPHRRESIED . Halifax, December 13. ' A spy was arrested-on board, an American relief ship when she arrived here He passed under the alias o> Henry French, but his real name is believed to he Louis Vosburg.
