A 611x1011 party and fete, in aid of 1 the Hutt-Taita Red Cross Shop, will bo hold at "Raiigiiiho," th© residence of Mrs. D. T. Cameron, Main Road, Lower Hutt, 011 Saturday next. The grounds, are ideally situated and are at present looking their best with their wealth of beautiful flowers. It has beqn arranged that the Trentham Military Band will be in attendance, and there will be afternoon tea, Christmas tree, sports, side-shoirs, etc. Complete arrangements have been made for a through, bus service, leaving the Wlutmore Street corner at a quarter to two (2s. return fare), and also a Lower Hutt local service. The usual Saturday night soldiers' ! concert was given in the Y.M.C.A. on Saturday evening. As these evenings j are becoming more known the attend-1 ance of soldiers is growing, and much appreciation of their bright and informal character lias been expressed. Musical items were given by little Miss Bennie, who was accompanied by her father on the zither, and Miss Taylor, and Miss G. Fathers, with Mr. Knowles, gave some "imitations without words." • Supper was served by the girls of the Young Women's Christian Association. Next Saturday evening Mr. Knowles, late engineer of the N.Z. hospital ship Maheno, will give some reminiscences of life on a hospital ship, which are expected to be very interesting. Soldiers from Feathcrston or Trentham Camps are always welcomed at these ovenings. The committee of the Patriotic Cake Room thank the following donors of cakes, subscriptions, etcMesdames Smitton, Heywood, Meek, Holmes, Palmer, R. 1\ Ward, Isaaos, Mirams. A.
