LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
WELLINGTON BEAUTY SPOTS Sir,—May I emphasise the remarks of Mr. J. B. Harcourt appearing in your issue of Friday last regarding one of the above, viz., tho Botanical Gardens. Mr. liarcouit lias not in any way exaggerated the beauty of these grounds, and to several members of both Houses of Parliament the gardens are, during sossion, a most enjoyable resort. To me, a Wellingtoniau by birth, with 11 knowlcdgo of the land 111 the very early days before any plantation was efl'octed or even thought of, tho present beauty of the grounds is a revelation. It was 011 tho slopes -and in the gullies of the "Botanies" that we as boys in the years long ago collected tho ferns and-native shrubbery for the annual Christmas decorat'ojis of our school. I would just here and now liko_ to say that I feel under a personal obligation to your City Corporation for the activo measures they have taken, and still are taking, in the heautification of their city resorves— I am, etc., A. T. MAGINNITY. Nelson, December 10, 1917.
