NEW LORD MAYOR OF SYDNEY
(Rcc. December 10,10.30 p.m.) . Sydney, December 10. Alderman Joynton Smith, the Labouw nominee, has been elected Lord Mayon! of Sydney. The council, on tho groundsj of economy, and in view of tho state ofi tho council's finances and the finances' of the country generally, has reduced the Lord Mayor's allowance from £1500< to £1000.—Prosa Association.
