Ex-Constable Stuwart Favell, reported died of wounds received in nctioii, • was a hfehly esteemed member of the police force. He became a member of "the Wellington Force on August 3, ; 1911, and was'stationed at Mount Cook ' until he was transferred to Blenheim on December 3, 1914. . He resigned on February 5," 1917, in order that lie might.. enlist in' the Expeditionary i Forces. The late Constable Favell i leaves a/widow and one child, who rei. side, at Wadestown. C.-Maclean, has - been-awarded the Military Cross. Lieutenant Maclean has_ had a severe illness j and has been in hospital in land; and France. Ho was wounded at Gallipoli and twice in. France, and • 'is now back at the front again. _ Lieu- ' tenant Maclean also saw service in Hhe Boer War, and was wounded at . Ottoshoop. Lieutenant-Colonel C. E. RusselRendle, .N.Z.M.C., lata of Ashburton, who for the past four months has been principal medical officer at Samoa, has returned ,to New Zealand invalided, and is in an Auckland hospital. He . was severely injured as the result of a fall from,his horse, but is now,making good progress towards recovery. Lieutenant-Colonel Russel-Rendle has received word of {he death in action on October 10 of his son, Second Lieutenant Anthony Dsrley Russel-Rendle, after thirty-three months' service in , Gallipoli, Egypt, and France.
