PLANS FOR INCREASED PRODUCTION. Tho order which, has teen made by tho British Board of Trade for tho control of matches was recently issued. It provides that All manufacturers and persons who directly imported matches during 1915 shall make a return to tho Tobacco' and Matches Control Board (1 Groat Georgo Street, Westminster, S.W.I) showing The quantities of every class of match'manufactured or imported by them during 1915; Tho names and addresses to whom they invoiced matches, and tho quantities of every class of match invoiced to such persons during 1915. Tho board may by notice fix the maximum price—wholesale and retail— at which matches may v bo sold, and may also fix different prices for different descriptions of matches. The latter may be fixed by references to the price prevailing at any particular date, and the price may bo varied After the date of- tho order no perRou shall sell "any mew brand or description of matches or describo any brand by a name other than that by which 'it was known at the dato of this order or alter the packing of any euch goods, without the leave of the Tobacco and Matches Control Board; and no person who buys matches for. rcsalo shall abstract any matches before resale from the box or packet in which they worn contained at the time of sale to" him." Good progress is being made (says the "Daily Mail") with regard to the distribution and fixing of prices. All the manufacturers have assented to tho proposal of tho board that their output should be noqled for the period of the war, and tho Control Board hopes to b<? able to arrange for an increase in tho present production.
