Tho totalisator turnover vas £20,648, making £41,658 for the meeting compared with £32,479 last year. . Foeman Rnd Portland Lady wore tho public fancies in the Hurdlos. The former made moat of tho running, but collapsed entering the straight, where Calais momentarily took charge, but aoon compounded. Tornca stayed on well at tho finish, Portland Lady only just beating him. Sir Solo ran ■ third, follonod by Veto, Calais, and 6en6ilive. Papareaa and Atuatoro fell. Several of tho runners in the Telesrapn Hack were well fanclod. Mill Queen, who had shown a lot of dash with the two-year-olds on tho first day, was the best-backed. King's Armour, on the rails, wae tho quickest to' becin, and attended by Piupiu he led into tho straight. Halfway down the running Humorist shot out and soon placed the issue beyond doubt. Madam Bistorl finished well, with King's Armour ajid Warmaid clobb up. Tho winner filled eecond place behind Madam Eistori at Waverley last month. I. In the Euahino Hack Welter Handicap there was very little difference in the support forthcoming for Hastie, Quinn'i Post, Mystified, and First Line. The lastnamed got a hod passage, and failed badly, but the other two were in the picture at tho finish. Quinn's Post, who led practically the whole -way, won well from Hastie, with Mystified next. Compel finished close up. • Square Deal had the services of W. ■y/ouog in the big Handicap. The Hanawatu Cup winner went out unfancied, but ho took chargo going down the back, and after a good finish.he just stalled of Bed Bibbon, while Dribble was a length away third, followed by Eude. Tree. Lucerne made the early running, and was in second place in the straight, but he then faded out of it. Eaagitero pulled up sore. Vagabond was well fancied, but ran badly. He was not favoured by a good run, and neither was Gold Soult. Another outsider in Retard, a cust-off from the Jeffcrd stables, came to light in the Stewards' Hack Handicap, for which the Auoklandcr Mentmore was a. good favourite,' with Matilda second in demand. Vermilion showed the way till well down the straight, when B-etard challenged, and, kicked ' dut, beat the black filly by a length. White Banger, ■was third. The two favourites ran badly. Lighting drew the rails in tho Railway. Handicap, and tho Bezonion filly finished up favourite. She did not begin well and was soon in trouble. Trentham Eose led into the straight from Starengo and Inah The latter took command inside the dietance.but Lady General got rv on tho fence, and in ft good finish won by a length from Inah. Trenthnin Bone was close up, and then came Shiela. Paddington Green w again ma<ta favourite in the seven furlongs Hack Handicap, while there was plenty-of backIng for Jfaraetotara and Lady Edith. The latter made ploy down the back and round the turn, but in the straight Volo took charge, and won nicely from the favourite, who just beat Altercation Wataka was at the head of the remainder, who were bunched. ~ ~.
