SUPREMACY IN THE AIR
POLICY OF THE NAVY LEAGUB*
A circular indicating the aircraft' policy of the Navy League has been received from London by the Wellington branch of that organisation. It states that at a meeting of the Executive Committee of the league Colonel »> - frill Ashley, M.l'., presiding, the following motions were unanimously adopted:— . . . 1. That the achievement or such supremacy in the ocean of the air as tho Navy enjoys 011 the surface of thel sc* should bo an essential feature of Bntisli national policy. - . . 2. That the command of the air is ot vital importance to our future existence as n maritime Power, and as a United Empire. 3. That notwithstanding the experience of the wsr, it is still unfortunately the fact that the dominant part which air power plays in the preservation of British liberty and security has not vet been fully recognised by the nation and by those responsible for the direction of national affairs. _ 4. That the Navy League definitely; adopts air policy as a concrete part of' its propagandist and educational activities, and b.v every means possible shall urgo upon the people that as aircraft must become more and more the eyes of the British Fleet, it will be a- vital, factor in the determination of future naval policy. . ' 5. That the Executive Committee ot tho Navy League, therefore, invites the co-operation of tho presidents and chairmen of all branches of the organisations in the United Kingdom and overseas in tho advocacy of this and in support of the demand that an all-powerful air fleet as _ tho necessary complement of the British Naiy, with an Air Board raised, to a "similar status to that now enjoyed by the Board of Admiralty, shall be created. The executive of the Wellington branch of the league has decided to approve of the policy.
