The stringency of the referendum regulations lias largely cut out appeals by pamphlets and leaflet, and both sides, particularly the anti-conscrip-tionists, urn relying more oil platform work. Tho delugo of eloquence has reached such it pitch that a newspaper correspondent seriously suggests that all references, written, or in pamphlets, or from platform or pulpit, should bo. suppressed, in order that the voter may go to the ballot cnlinly and undisturbed, and bo spared tho pain this distressing discussion is causing.—l'rcss Assn. THE SOLDIERS' VOTE. Melbourne, December 5. 'An amendment to the War Precautions Act permits all soldiers on service or who have returned to vote, irrespective of their age.—Press Assn. (Rec. A further amendment to the regulations permits soldiers under twentyone who have enlisted, but who have not seen service, to vote at the refcrdum.—Press Assn. "AUSTRALIAN WORKER•' PROSECUTED (Rec. December 5, 11.15 p.m.) Sydney, December 5. Under tho War Precautions Act, Boote, publisher of the newspaper "Australian Worker," appeared in answer to a charge of publishing matter likely to prejudice recruiting. There wcro four charges of failing to submit articles to tho censor. After a quantity of evidence had been taken, counsel for the prosecution said that he desired to withdraw the information covering the first charge. The hearing was adjourned till Friday.—Press Assn.
