GERMAN EAST AFRICA CONQUERED
WHOLE REGION CLEARED OF THE ENEMY , LAST OF GERMAN OVERSEAS POSSESSIONS GONE (Rec. December 5, 1.45 a.m.) London, December 4. An official report from East Africa statos:—"General Van der Venter, on December 1. reported: Reconnaissances definitely snow. that German East Africa has been completely cleared of tho enemy. Thus the whole of the German oversew possessions has passed into our bands and those / of tho Belgians. A small German regiment has taken refuge in Portuguese territories, and measures have Dean taken to deal with it. Our captures during November totalled 1115 Germanß and 8382 native fighters. Wo captured, or the enomy himself destroyed, six gjms, seventy-three machine gunß, and several thousand rifles."—Aus.-N.Z. Cabls Assn.-Reuter.
