!A! very successful tennis afternoon was' held on tile Wellington Club's courts on Saturday' last, and resulted in £i being collected in aid of the Sports Day Fund. Seventy players from tho Kelburn, Thorndon, Brougham Hill, and Wellington Clubs competed in a doubles handicap, and after each of'tho thirt.v-fivo pairs had played off three games the ten- best pairs were selected for tho semi-finals. The winning.pair turned out to ho Miss Hunt and Mr. Hurley, of the Brougham Hill Club, who both played a very steady and heady game, while Mrs. Darling (Kelburn) and Mr. Pearson fWellington) were the runners-up. . The presentation of a trophy to the wi/merj and cheers for tlie energetic lady secretary of the Wellington Olub concluded a very enjoyable afternoon.
