The death took place yesterday morning at her residence, The Terrace, of Miss Ellen Greenwood, daughter of the late "jr. Greenwood, of Motueka, who cam<rft>' New Zealaud about 74 years ago, and was formerly sergeant-at-arni3 in Parliament. Miss Greenwood (with her sister) for a considerable number of years conducted one of the first educational establishments in Wellington, and in all' parts of New Zealand are many former pupils who are able to look back with pleasure upon the happy years they spent under Ker tuition. Miss Greenwpod was connected with several philanthropic and social organisations m this city, and they owed much to her organising abilities and unfailing interest. For many years' she was president of the Alexandra Home and the Levin Home, and only resigned from those positions a few months ago. She was also a consistent- worker for the Ladies' Christian Association, and displayed activity in other ways as well. Mr. F. Greenwood, of Wellington, is a brother, and among her sisters are Miss Annie Greenwood, and Mrs. L. Stowe, of Wellington, Mrs. Kemp (London), and Mrs. William Pharazyn (London). Much regret will be, experienced by a wide circle of friends at the nows ,of Miss Greenwood's death.
The many friends of Mrs. Lynn M'Kelvio will regret to hear she is at present in the Belverdalo Private Hospital, Wanganui, as the result of an accident.
