PORT OF WELLINGTON
MEETING OF HABBOUR BOARD. The monthly meeting of the Wellington Harbour Board was held last night. There were present the chairman (Mr. 0. E. Daniell), "Messrs. M. Cohen, R,. E. Sinclair, X MacFarlane, J. G. Cobbe, M. W. Welch, J. W. M'Ewan, R. A. Wright, J. G. Harkness, ■ W. Wallis, A. H. Hindmareh, and Captain C. M'Arthur. ' '
Leave of absence was granted to Messrs. W. Cable and R. Fletcher.
The bank pass books showed a credit balance to current account of £82,488, to imprest account £1978, and on fix,od deposit £60,000. _ ■ .' A letter was received from.the Minister of Marine that the question ci making provision next session for legislation enabling harbour boards to erect workers' homes would receive careful consideration.
The chairman reported that the annual statement of accounts and statistics could not be printed and circulated owing to thq.War Regulations prohibiting publication of such matter. Confidential copies would Le. supplied to members of the board. At the suggestion of. Mr. Welch, the chairman moved that a congratulatory letter be sent to Mr. Wilford on his elevation to Cabinet rank. Mr. Welch seconded tho motion, which was agreed to without further comment.
