SALE OF FISH
IN AID OF CHRISTMAS GIFT FUND. The Italian fishermen have given the wliolo of today's o-atch to the Mayoress of Wellington's Christmas Gift Fund for Soldiers, and tho fish will be sold to-morrow for the benefit of tlio fund. Word has heen received that there will he fully five tons of assorted fish to he disposed of. To enable the fund to benefit, Messrs. Townsend and Pnd have given this free use of their spacious fish market in Allen Street to thn eommitteo, and tho fish will be sold there to-ninrrow morning, '■ommenciiig nt six o'clock, by the ladies of the amateur athletic section of tho associated snorts bodies. For the first time in the history of the city an opportunity will be provided to the citizens to purchase fish at nopular prices in tho market, and nt the same time to help provide comforts for our hoys nt the front. The sale will 1m continued, on Saturday morning should more fish come to hand.
