AUSTRALIA CELEBRATES THE CAMBRAI VICTORY

SYDNEY GAY WITH BUNTING. (Rec. November 27, 11.10 p.m.)

'Sydney, November 27.

Tho city h decorated with bunting in honour" of General Byng's victory. Tho church-bells pealed, bands played, and tho streets to-night were illuminated.- A monster thanksgiving service was held nt Martin Place, thoso present including Parliamentary and civic beads, and the foreign Consuls. The public heartily joined in the celebrations. Opportunity was taken.of the gathering of the big crowds to push tho recruiting and conscription issues. The campaign so far has been marked bv intense earnestness, but it lacks much of the vitriolic spirit which' marked tho previous conscription referendum.—Press Assn.
