PRESBYTERIAN ASSEMBLY
MINISTERS ADMITTED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Dunetlin, November 26. At the Presbyterian Assembly applications for admission as ministers were dealt with as follow: —Rev. James Ings, received; year's probation to be dispensed with. Alfred John Davis, received as licentiate, with ono year's probation. Rev. John Lowdon, of the West Coast, received, after a two years' extra, mural course. Rev. Frank M'Donald, of Taihape, received, after ono year's probation, on condition that he satisfied the Theological Committee as to general education.
An overture from the Wanganui Presbytery, asking for recognition and endorsement of the Presbyterian Men's League was unanimously adopted.
The Assembly affirmed the desirability of a fund for the benefit of women workers, and sent suggested regulations back to tho committee with instructions to take the best expert advice available, revise the regulations, and send them to the presbyteries ana parties interested for consideration, the committee to report to next Assembly. It was resolved to alter the constitution of lona College by appointing six ministers instead of three, and nine laymen on the council.
The report on the Melrose Girls' College, Invercargill, showed that tho committee had decided to raise tho necessary capital by the formation of a limited liability company, with an issue of shares of the value of £3000. It was proposed to appeal for £1500 in gifts. Miss Gibson, now on the staff of the Wellington Girls' College, has been appointed principal. Tho report was adopted.
