The fifteenth Lord Derby, son of the great orator, not having inherited his father's cloqtiencc, used to write his speeches word for word and hand them to the Press. Not only did ho punctuate them freely with "Hear, hear," and "Laughter," but he also added voices of encouragement, thus: "But I am detaining you too long'' (cries of "No, 110," aud "Go on"). j
