THE PIRATE WAR
NEfV BARRED ZONE AIMED AT
NEUTRALS
A GERMAN BLUFF
London, November 25. There is a consensus of opinion amongst experts that the extension of tho barred zone is directed against neutrals rather than Britain, and that it foreshadows increased efforts to deprive neutrals of supplies -unless these nro handed over to Germany. It also denotes disappointment with tho results oi the submarine warfare against Britain, and a desire to suggest to tho German public that tho German Admiralty has still a card up its sleeve.— Aus.-N.Z; Cable Assn.
Washington, November 25. Mr. J. Daniels, Secretary for the Navy, has announced that American destroyers bombed a submarine underwater, and disabled her. Tho submarine rose to tho surface, and a torpedo boat attached a towline to her, but the crew while surrendering opened the valves of tho submarine, which sank. Tho crew was saved.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
A Reuter message states that two of the crew of the submarine were drowned.
