ALLEGATIONS OF THEFT'.
' Mr. S. E. M'Carthy,* S.M., held a sitting of the Magistrate's Court on Saturday. Ronald Beste was remanded to appear at Dunedin on a charge of failure to account for money received. Ellen M. Hodgson was remanded till next week respecting a charge of. the theft of a blouse. ..
Christopher Smith was fined 10s. on a charge of, insobriety. On three chargos of having stolen overcoats Geo. W. Dinester was remanded till Wednesday. Robert Dixon: Warden was remanded till Wednesday on several charges of theft in Christchureh and Wellington. It is alleged that from two, Wellington dwellings he stole property to the value or over £70. John Burt was charged with the theft of a barrel of whisky worth £25 45.. belonging to- the Wellington Harbour Board, and a box of candles valued at £1 25., belonging to Batinatyne and Co. He pleaded not guilty, and was remanded to the Supreme Court for trial.
